1 fat quarter each of 8 different shades or textures of blue fabrics for background 1 fat eighth each of 4 different contrasting-color fabrics for accent squares* ⅓ yard of print for binding 1⅓ yards of fabric for backing 24" x 48" piece of batting *You can use scraps; you’ll need 31 squares, 2½" x 2½". Press the seam allowances to the side or open as directed in the diagrams. MAKING BLOCK A 1 Arrange the assorted blue pieces and the accent squares in three rows as shown below. Sew one blue 2½" x 4½" rectangle, one blue 2½" x 8½" rectangle, and one accent 2½" square together for the bottom row.
